Smooth E Commercial

A friend commented that the girl in the clip reminded him of me. I wonder which part though- her looks or her character. *cheeky grin*

Wahliao. The girl is SO gangster. Cholor (Hokkien for rough/unrefine) like crazy. Don't tell me that's the part that reminded my friend of me. *faint*

Come on lar. She used the product, so leng (it means pretty) now. I also want such smooth, unblemish skin. Can or not? Anyone out there who can refute or praise the product?

And it comes to show, your idea of your one true love might not necessarily be the guy you set your cap on initially. It might very well be the guy just right beside you all along.

Predictably... the guy gets the girl and everyone say, "AWWWWWWwwww".

Kooky Pics #290 My forever

Posted by Picasa

Scumbags of the world

Picture taken from HERE.

Have you ever felt that some friendships are perhaps, just not meant to be?? That if you had a chance, a choice to turn back time, you would opt to never know that person?? That no matter how much effort you put into it, no matter how much you tell yourself that you're being a true friend and that's what a real friend would do- not giving up and just hoping that the friendship and effort put into it will be appreciated? Noticed? Reciprocated?

Well, that's how I feel tonight.

All I can say is to this friend that I hope you do appreciate your true and real friends. Because real friends are hard to come by. And despite all that has happened, I still regard you as my friend, my brother. But you make it so hard. So hard for me to continue being your friend. Tonight, you make me regret ever knowing you, ever meeting your acquaintance. For all the memories that are now just bittersweet. I doubt you really care.

And the rest of you who call yourself my friends but take me for granted, there is only so much a person can take. It's easy to just let go and move on. I tell that to myself everyday- to let go, but I find myself the kind of person who just keep giving second chances. Trying to understand why 'you all' make the choices that you do, say things to me that you don't mean such as 'keeping in touch with me', 'meeting up with me' but never did kept to them when all I wanted was just your friendship. To be able to be there for you.

Call me a sucker, whatever. That's just me. But one day, when I truly do let go, you would have lost a good friend in me. A friend who would really go the extra mile for you. And if I haven't been a true friend to you, do forgive me and please tell me, so that I can be one.

Then again, maybe you guys have many other friends in your life that you can forgo the one in me. Then, I guess, it's just my loss. My stupidity in thinking that I mean something when I clearly don't. Friends come and go. There are 6 billion people out there in the world and I am sure many are needing a friend right now. If I can't be a friend to you, then I'll just be a friend to another. That's what I keep saying though.

Life goes on.

The new me

I have always had this phobia about having a hair cut because EVERY TIME I go for a hair cut, it ends in some kind of hair style disaster. Since 2006, it has always been the fringe disaster.

Let's look back at the slight variations of hairstyle that I had. None too drastic though, I must say.

Mei- En and I in 2006- her first visit to Malaysia from Melbourne

I had to pin it up after the hairstylist gave me rather ugly fringe. Come on, I am not pretty to begin with but to butcher my looks further by handicapping me with ugly fringe??!!! That's just plain ridiculous. =p

Us again in July 2007 at Melbourne

In 2007, whilst I made a trip to Brisbane to visit Mr. C, he and I made our way to Melbourne for a week to meet up with Sally, Mei-En and my uncle and his family. Before my Aussie trip, I had my hair curled. If you know me, you would know that I am not one to follow with the latest styles and fashion but as I was rather bored of my somewhat straight hair with some waves, I opt for a perm. It was a tad too curly and it didn't look as nice as some people's as I possessed rather thick hair.

Still 2007 but in September, I had a trim and decided to have my hair straightened just for the day and it looked pretty decent actually. However, it would cost several hundreds to straighten my hair. Seeing that I had only just permed it several months back, I left it as it is but had highlights done.

October 2007 in Brisbane for my CPA exams and of course, hanging out with Mr. C and NiNi. Then, my curls have already straighten somewhat and gave me a sweeter look.

July 2008 with Mr. C at Eagle Pier, Brisbane CBD. By then, after countless hair trims, it signify the end of my curls and back to my naturally straight and somewhat wavy hair.

With my SAM 2002 classmates at Bangsar. end 2009. Had to pin up my hair again due to disastrous haircut yet again in November as seen below.

Ok. Girls normally post flattering pictures of themselves and that's probably one way to get more traffic to their blogs but that's just not me. =p I don't look hideous in the pictures but I look retarded instead.

Mr. C and I in November 2009 at Genting Highlands when Mr. C surprised me for my 25th birthday- by flying back from Brisbane. That was one surprise that I definitely didn't foresee.

My cousins and I at Penang, December 2009. That was one awesome trip, going to Singapore and Penang. It was nice to be able to spend time with family. However, as you can see, I still had to pin up my fringe whilst waiting for it to grow.

At LCCT in December 2009, saying farewell to my uncle, aunt and cousin.

A skinnier me in April 2009 before I left for Aussie and before I ballooned up with extra 4kg to my weight!

When I first arrived in Brisbane.

After close to three months in Brisbane, naturally my hair has been having a life of it's own. Growing and stretching till it looked like a messy jungle. Three weeks back, I finally went for a hair cut at Runcorn, recommended by my aunt. Despite my trepidation about haircut, I decided to give it a go and hope that perhaps, Australian hairstylist might have better skills.
This is me BEFORE my hair cut.

And me AFTER my haircut. I told the Asian hairstylist that I didn't want my hairline at the top of my head to be so obvious and he ended up giving me a fringe. And once again, I was given bangs. I don't look chun (slang for hot babe) but at least, the cut looks better than the one I had in November 2009.

It made me look younger and I have people exclaiming that I look even more a Korean now than before. *faint* The Asian hairstylist charged AUD19 for the cut and said I look cute with this new hairstyle. *another faint* My aunt and cousin kept saying how much they like this new style on me over my previous one. So, I decided to give it a go instead of pinning it up.

And I must say, at times, I like it. Since back to Malaysia, I've had two to three pimples popping up at my upper forehead. I just have to pin it up as it is TOO hot to leave it down.

Don't know why I can't get nice haircuts that other girls seem to have. Despite my disastrous fringe throughout the years, it is still the NEW me look. I feel like the cat in the watermelon helmet picture. =)

Kooky Pics #287 An idle mind is the devil's workshop

Posted by Picasa

B.U.S.Y

I received the below through email and thought it worthwhile to share. Some may take offense, some might scoffed but at the end of the day- it's between you and God. =) Then again, you might be an atheist. Just read it with an open mind like you would any other stories or jokes.

*************

Satan called a worldwide convention of demons.

In his opening address he said, "We can't keep Christians from going to church."

"We can't keep them from reading their Bibles and knowing the truth...."

"We can't even keep them from forming an intimate relationship with their SAVIOR."

"Once they gain that connection with JESUS, our power over them is broken."

"So let them go to their churches; let them have their covered dish dinners, BUT steal their time, so they don't have time to develop a relationship with JESUS CHRIST.."

"This is what I want you to do," said the devil: "Distract them from gaining hold of their SAVIOR and maintaining that vital connection throughout their day!"

"How shall we do this?" his demons shouted.

"Keep them busy in the non-essentials of life and invent innumerable schemes to occupy their minds," he answered....

"Tempt them to spend, spend, spend, and borrow, borrow, borrow."

"Persuade the wives to go to work for long hours and the husbands to work 6-7 days each week, 10-12 hours a day, so they can afford their empty Lifestyles."

"Keep them from spending time with their children."

"As their families fragment, soon, their homes will offer no escape from the pressures of work!"

"Over-stimulate their minds so that they cannot hear that still, small voice."

"Entice them to play the radio or I-Pod whenever they drive." To keep the TV, DVDs, CDs and their PCs going constantly in their home and see to it that every store and restaurant in the world plays non-biblical music constantly."

"Let them play Lil Farm, Farmville and other Facebook games in their computer the whole day so that their time got consumed in that activity alone"

"This will jam their minds and break that union with CHRIST."

"Fill the coffee tables with magazines and newspapers."

"Pound their minds with the news 24 hours a day."

"Invade their driving moments with billboards."

"Flood their mailboxes with junk mail, mail order catalogs, sweepstakes, and every kind of newsletter and promotional offering free products, services and false hopes."

"Keep skinny, beautiful models on the magazines and TV so their husbands will believe that outward beauty is what's important, and they'll become dissatisfied with their wives. "

"Keep the wives too tired to love their husbands at night."

"Give them headaches too! "

"If they don't give their husbands the love they need, they will begin to look elsewhere."

"That will fragment their families quickly!"

"Give them Santa Claus to distract them from teaching their children the real meaning of Christmas.."

"Give them an Easter bunny so they won't talk about HIS resurrection and power over sin and death..."

"Even in their recreation, let them be excessive."

"Have them return from their recreation exhausted."

"Keep them too busy to go out in nature and reflect on GOD'S creation. Send them to amusement parks, sporting events, plays, concerts, and movies instead."

"Keep them busy, busy, busy!"

"And when they meet for spiritual fellowship, involve them in gossip and small talk so that they leave with troubled consciences. "

"Crowd their lives with so many good causes they have no time to seek power from JESUS."

"Soon they will be working in their own strength, sacrificing their health and family for the good of the cause."

"It will work!"

"It will work!"

It was quite a plan!

The demons went eagerly to their assignments causing Christians everywhere to get busier & more rushed, going here & there.

Having little time for their GOD or their families.

Having no time to tell others about the power of JESUS to change lives.

I guess the question is, has the devil been successful in his schemes?

You be the judge!!!!!

Does "BUSY" mean: B-eing U-nder S-atan's Y-oke?

I don't think I know 10 people who would admit they love JESUS..

Do You Love HIM? Do you know HIM?

Rain in my parade

I am finally home after months away in Brisbane! Woke up at 5.30am, had my wake-me-up shower, a cup of tea brewed by Mr. C and consumed some biscuits and drove to Coolongata Airport in Gold Coast for my ride home to Malaysia. We had to leave so early as Brisbane is about 1hour away from Gold Coast.

It wasn't a teary goodbye as how it used to be at the very beginning in 2006 and 2007. Perhaps, it's the knowledge that we'll be united once again pretty soon.

This is my international meal consisting of BBQ Smoke Chicken, steamed potatoes and beans. It isn't anything much to shout about but it satisfied my rumbling tummy. This plane ride was filled with families traveling together with their little tots and babies accompanied by lots of crying. Must be exhausting for the parents to cajole and distract their brood without getting any rest!

I was fortunate to have center aisle seats and ALL three seats to myself. However, I gather I would have been more comfortable with side, window seats. Oh well, there's always next time! I alternated between playing my net book till the battery ran out to reading and sleeping. Thank heavens I had my music to drown out the many wails of the disgruntled babies.

We reached earlier then expected at LCCT, Kuala Lumpur and I was out the gates with my bag by 3.15pm. I had to wait about 20 minutes before my "drivers" reached as I had previously informed them that I was scheduled to land at 3.10pm. Whilst waiting, blaring honks assaulted my ears making me cringe, craning my neck around, investigating the source of the ruckus.

Apparently, this old, white head uncle in a van was blocking the bus from making his way through. Being impatient, the bus man kept abusing our ears with his honk! It was definitely grating my nerves! If he reversed, then the old man could turn into the available empty spot that he was trying to get into, just that the current position of his van didn't leave him enough space to TURN into the lot. It was either that or drive another round!

And this got me bothered as I come to a realisation that I have been pampered with my months abroad in Queensland.

Why you may ask?

Firstly, their toilets are ALWAYS impeccably clean and DRY!! Well, except the ones at Sunnybank- an Asian area and we all know how that works out. Before I retrieved my luggage bag, I had to use the ladies' and as I was carrying a backpack and a hand carry, I naturally needed a dry floor to put my bag on. I had to hunt for several stalls as most were wet much to my annoyance.

And this reminded me back to Coolongatta airport where a stupid, ignorant, tudung wearing Malay lady cut my queue to hand her boarding pass to the flight attendant. However, I did not give her a piece of my mind as another flight attendant was free to assist me. If that was not the case, I would have told her off. Such mentality should be left in the jungle and not be brought to civilisation! Seriously.

With the rude bus man blaring his honks for all to hear, other vehicles behind joined him with trumpet sound-like honks causing many to turn their heads in curiosity to what the ruckus was all about. This definitely would NOT have happened in Australia mainly because people there are more considerate and civic minded. They would not be parked at the lane that has a sign saying, 'NO PARKING' and 'NO WAITING'.

That was the case today here in LCCT as there was no enforcement in place. To begin with, this is Malaysia where RULES ARE MEANT TO BE BROKEN. It's bad enough that you're NOT supposed to stop at the first lane but awesome Malaysians have to defy all sense of consideration and double park!! This is just plain ridiculous as it does not allow people like my parents to stop for me to load my bags into the car!

When I stepped out of the plane, the hot weather and humidity hit me with such force as opposed to the wondrous cooling, windy winter that I had just left behind in Brisbane. Followed by the toilet, psycho bus man and shitty drivers on the road- that should have been an omen of things to come.

It's hard to say that I am glad to be back when less than 24hours home, I am already disheartened by certain people and certain things. Things aren't exactly how I had hope of them to be. Lots of things haven't changed and that really saddens my heart. It reminds me once again why I had to leave in the very first place.

I just wished I knew why God let things be the way they are and what His reasons are. Frustratingly, I don't seem to be drawing any nearer to Him and sometimes, I know it shouldn't, but some people's actions really turns me off! Whatever it is, I still believe God is out there and that He is watching out over me. I cling to whatever tiny faith I have left as I see small doors opening since Mr. C and I started praying together recently.

I wish that I could do something about things but I guess, it's ALL in God's hands and in His time.

My Merediths

In life, everyone needs a life saver. Yeah I know it's supposed to be Jesus but I meant in terms of friends. It makes a HUGE difference and can really be the best medicines at times.

I know how I always moan and lament my missing Meredith or Christina (watch Grey's Anatomy for the clueless), Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte (Sex and the City) or even my own Barney Stinson (How I met your mother) but that doesn't mean I lack friends.

When I first came to Brisbane, it was tough the first couple of days missing home, family and friends! And even when I started to adapt, I still had a lot of down moments despite having only an aunt, two cousins in Uni and Mr. C here in Brissie!

Yeah, well, although Mr. C used to be enough. It's a different story these days. Maybe I've had my chance to spread some of my wings and tasted independence for a tad too long. Whatever it was, I needed companionship. Girl time. Someone I can ring up and say,"hey, let's go out for a drink or movie or do SOMETHING!!". Something I had back home even with my guy friends.

As I was saying about my tough times here, two people have helped me through it. NiNi is this really adorable young lady whom I met through Mr. C during his Inti College years. But back then, she and I couldn't mesh. We were just two acquaintances connected through Mr. C. However, that all changed in 2007 when I came over to visit Mr. C during his mid year Uni break. Let's just say, being Mr. C's ambassador and liaison, carrying out damage control and tidying up misunderstandings drew me closer to her. Since then, we've been in touch through letters and gifts we sent to each other.

Ever since I got here, NiNi would call me every week to chat and I tell you, these girly chats saved me from my tortured thoughts and has helped me feel a whole lot better from my off and on mild bout of sadness. We would talk about her work to yoga, about my non-working life and the one person who makes me want to clobber him, Mr. C with a hammer at times. It is just good to be able to talk to someone else for a change, someone who can understand my English- my la's and ma's. Someone who can follow my full sentences, my accent, my slang and appreciate and indulge in my bimboticness and retardedness.

This is US in 2008 at Taringa, if I am not wrong.

The funny thing about her is that seeing how she lacks an English name, I used to call her Sharon which she obviously ignored. However, her current colleague renamed her 'Sally' when she couldn't pronounce NiNi's Chinese name.

Digressing for a moment. Not trying to pick a bone here but how hard is it to learn our Chinese name? We take the time to learn your culture, your slangs and what not, it doesn't kill you to learn that us, Malaysian Chinese at times, have an English name followed by our FAMILY name and our Chinese name! And I am not referring to NiNi's colleague, more like anyone who doesn't bother trying to understand how our name reads cos it happened.

So, that's the story of my Sally #1.

Here's introducing Sally #2.

Unlike NiNi, Sally really is her name! She was from my high school at Taman S.E.A but migrated with her family to Melbourne when we were Form2. We exchanged contacts and became penpals- how many letters we scribbled and poured our teenager hearts and angst that we sent to each other, gifts, pictures. She even sent me a mud pack during high school years!!

It's amazing this 12 years of writing and friendship. We've slowed down our letter exchange but she's been calling me up every now and then just to check in and see how I am doing.

I guess there are other "Sallys" out there waiting to comfort me but it feels that to some, I am a case of "out-of-sight-out-of-mind" victim. It's quite saddening especially when I feel I am the kind that will go the extra mile for a friend but end up at the losing end most times.

Whatever it is, I am grateful for you two SALLYS specifically. You made it possible to survive my PMS moments here. Without you guys, who knows, I might be hanging at the end of a noose.
