TGIF and fat me

One thing to be glad of the whole week- it's Friday. The weekend officially begins!

I have been blue the whole week signalling that annoys-me-to-no-end time of the month. I hate it when I am blue for no particular reason. Doesn't make sense but it makes me blue about everything else; life, work, friends (or lack of) or lack of communication from them etc.

Fret not. I'll be fine by mid next week. Hopefully.

But with this moody broody feelings, I always feel bloated, fat and ugly.

What's new, right? Reckon it comes with the territory.

It's one thing to feel fat and to know that I've packed on a few kilograms, it's a totally different level when my blur-about-these-kind-of-things hubby asks me if I've put on a little bit of weight as he inspects my thigh.

He's lucky I didn't punch him there and then. I would have had the perfect alibi anyway... crazy hormones. ;p

Oh well, time to cut down on my sugar, again and start three times a week exercise. To start, I shall be trying out Zumba on Wednesday with two colleagues. This should be interesting. Hope it turns out to be a long term endeavour in my bid to shed some weight.

A slug, I am

Hi all!

I've been a lazy bum for not blogging. And for that, I can see traffic to this blog is dying off. I don't blame you all for losing interest. I would, too. Never thought that life would get in the way and I'd blog less or rather hardly ever.

I guess when I am happy, I feel less inspired to blog. Lesser need to spill my guts out.

Unfortunately, I've been feeling the blues once again for this past few days. I hate it when that happens. I've been doing so well in my happy place for quite a fair bit of time and this is just such a pain in my bum.

I guess I've been feeling upset about not settling in a church just yet or rather mainly on friendship issues. People think my life is all fun and food based on pictures uploaded on Facebook. But hello??! Who posts sad photos of themselves?

You would obviously post places you've been to or food you've had and obviously not pictures of yourself, pooping on your throne or emo-ing to songs at home.

I guess I feel, everytime I make the effort or feel like I am close to someone, it turns out, the feelings aren't exactly mutual. Friends back home?  They meet up and not include or update me. Of course, I am not expecting an every-single-second update but it would be nice to be kept in the loop.

Come on. With technology these days such as Viber and Whatsapp that makes communication FREE. I don't see why they couldn't bother just a short text or what not. And I used to initiate (or feel like it) conversations but after all, there is only so much one can go with one worded conversations.

It's tiring to keep digging for more 'life updates' when it's not freely given.

Oh well.

Fret not. I will do something to get myself out of this funk, somehow.

Snarky email

Yesterday and today weren't such great days. Started my day reading a not-so-nice-toned email from someine 'up there out there'. It is really frustrating when I am rushing to complete my reporting and yet, have to deal with unpleasantness (politics) like this which I felt was unwarranted.

I am all for getting work done and don't believe in playing politics and sucking up to people.

Reading the first email in disbelief, my first reaction was to cry. You have to bear in mind that I am not usually a watering pot but I just so happened to be in that sensitive and vulnerable time of the month that rendered me emotional.

However, I reigned in my tears from watering, and the next emotion I felt was a burst of anger.

It's amazing how one can feel such contrasting emotions all in a spanned of a few minutes.

I wanted to shoot off a sarcastic reply but told myself to be as professional as possible in my written response and not take things personal. I even asked someone to vet my reply before I sent it off to ensure it wasn't dripping with sarcasm.

Next thing you know, I received a meanie reply filled with verbal finger pointing. Apparently, sender of email didn't want to be involved in a slanging match (but then, ironically proceeded to do just that) and claimed to find my email inflammatory.

Anyone who knows me would find that hard to believe, that I would sent such an email.

Lucky for me, one of my boss who was included in the email said I was doing my job well and that he will handle the matter. He also said that he hardly found my email inflammatory. It is good to know that someone has my back.

Well, I hope he does.

I really hope this isn't the tone for the rest of the year 'cos I am enjoying work for once and I would hate to start dreading work like before.

Only time will tell.

Hives attack

10.28pm
I hate it when I feel itchy and what more to say itchy AND pained! It means my hives are back! Am currently waiting for the Zyrtec my hubby made me consumed to kick into effect and sooth my itch away.

In 2010 when I was living in Brisbane, the hives first made their appearance. I probably blogged about it before, so check out archives around May or June 2010 to read about it.

I don't like eating medicine, if I can help it. After 'tahan'ing my itch and pain for a few weeks, I gave in to Zyrtec and lived on it (an anti-histamine) for the next half of 2010. I'll eat it every morning before any itchiness appears 'cos better to have it before the hives appear.

That and I just got plain sick and tired of being itchy and pained every single day.

Once I moved to Melbourne, it miraculously stopped. I reckoned it was some pollen where I lived that was causing the hives. And now, it's made a come back. Drat that!

I still think it's pollens. 'Cos this all started about 2 weeks back when we went jogging. Since then, I've had hives attack about 3 times now. This is just SO annoying. I had to take sick leave last week  due to swelling of my eyes.

Anyways, Mr. C is making an appointment for me with a doctor (I'll call him Dr. Saviour if he can provide a definite answer to the cause of my allergies) who specialises in allergies. He gets really worked up when I break out in hives and today's hives were really naughty having a gala time on my tummy, lower back, thighs and back of calves.

Thanks to K, my colleague for providing a list of allergy doctors to check out.

Let's hope Dr. Saviour will truly save me from more hive appearances!

10.41pm
Hey... guess what?? Zyrtec pulled through. No longer in pain and the swelling has subsided. Phew....

Self doubt and anxiousness

I hate this gan cheong feeling coupled with self doubt. It gnaws away the little self esteem I have. Ridiculous much? I know and yet, the feelings are there. At the end of the day, you can't really reveal much about yourself or the freaking whole truth when people aren't exactly there for it.

Especially interviews. They ask you questions to profile who and what you are. But do they really want the real you? Besides, people who talks better (not necessarily work better) tends to land the job.

From the advises people throw my way, they'll say " 'beautify' your resume", lie.. but that's just not me. I guess, I am too honest for my own good and a tad too straight. Straight in a non street smart way.

Just a random ramblings. The wind is strong outside and I just wished it'll carry me away from what may be in store today later on or well, my future.

Aahh.. I know pessimism gets you no where but it follows me like a hawk, shadowing me.

Time to start making better choices eh.

A lazy Saturday

I don't know but off late, it has been a struggle to write. I have loads to share but when I do sit in front of my laptop, I am either back on Facebook checking friend's statuses, uploading pictures, replying meassages or am just clearing my emails. There are so many stories to talk about from J & G's visit, Mr. C's parents' visit and even now, my own family. However, I struggle to put how I feel, what I experience into words that I end up saying nothing.

Well, today, I am back. Today is pretty much a relaxing day. Have had few and precious days like this.

Today, Mr. C went for a long overdue haircut. Then, we went to Dan Murphy's as my *cough cough* goody sister have been wanting to buy some drink. Lols. We prolly will attempt to make Tiramisu one of these days with this.

This drink has a WORM inside!!!

It's not an accident... rather the worm is inside deliberately.

A slightly heavier me enjoying my smooth tau foo fa

After that, we headed to Shirley's Grocery at Scoresby for some light shopping. Mr. C had Sharon's Bak Zhang whilst I had Aunt Shirley's Tau Foo Fa. I really love the smooth and sweet Tau Foo Fa. On good and happy days like this, Mr. C relents and buys a tub for me!

If you want relatively reasonable priced groceries especially Asian groceries, Aunt Shirley's most likely will have it. Weekends, you can get fresh Nasi Lemak and curry puffs too, to name a few food to buy. BUT Tau Foo Fa is a MUST buy!! You won't regret it. The few people I recommend it to always consume it happily. In fact, on some days, if you're unlucky, you'll reach Aunt Shirley's only to find out they've sold out on it! ;(

Feeling SLEEEPPPY. I feel like having a catnap before we head into the city to meet my youngest uncle for dinner.  See, that's why I end up not blogging much. Who wants to read boring and unexciting posts like this? ;p

Toodles... *snoressss*

Today I don't feel like doing anything

"Today I don't feel like doing anything
I just want to lay in my bed..."

Woke up at one. Half the day gone. Laptop on my tummy. Surfing my time away.

Dragged myself for a shower. Had two pieces of toast. With a cup of tea. More calories stored.

Hacking. Coughing. Sniffling. Choking.

Aches and sores. Heartaches and headaches. Confusion and clarity. Denial and oblivion.

Tremors. Flashes of lightning. Grey skies. Doom and gloom.

Feeling forlorn. Feeling alone. Feeling anti-social. Feeling crappy.

Two more Dream High. New beginnings of White Collar. Old walk down Greys Anatomy. And now, it's back to Castle.

Unwanted love handles and Green Coffee

I've finally sent out my save-the-date via Facebook today. Took me forever to get the guest list sorted out and even then, there's still a few people that I'll need to get their contact and let them know since I don't have them on Facebook.

And so with about 7 more months to go to the BIG day together with every bride's fervent wish to look svelte in their gorgeous white gown, I have started to think what can I do in order to lose the unwanted love handles.

This has been an ongoing item to strike off from the things-to-do list for the past I-don't-know-how-many-years... like forever!

Somehow, I never seem to lose more than 4kg and when I do, I just gain them back!

Darn.

Anyway, back to my big day. I think it's not too ambitious to lose at least 1kg a month. As long as I exercise, eat well, drink lots of water and watch my sweet tooth, it shouldn't be that difficult. Right?

I came across this article on Glamour.com about 8 workout moves for a toned body in two weeks written by a Shaun Dreisbach and it's really good for all who are clueless where to begin in regards to losing some weight.

(the below was taken from HERE)

************************

These moves will help you score, tighter arms, calves and lower abs in two weeks; see sexy definition in your butt, hips and thighs in four (and, if you have weight to lose and are eating right, drop a dress size); and after six weeks, you’ll be slimmer and more toned all over. Do two sets three or four days a week circuit-style.

Toning Move 1: Squat and Shoulder Press

Works butt, thighs, arms
Stand with feet hip-width apart holding five-pound weights in each hand, arms bent, palms facing in. Bend knees and squat, as shown; pause, then stand and press arms straight up over shoulders. Do 8 to 12 reps.

Toning Move 2: Pull Combo

Works butt, thighs, abs
Stand with feet hip-width apart, arms bent 90 degrees, with left hand near hip and right hand up by face, like a sprinter. Bend and lift left knee toward chest, then lean torso forward, extend left arm forward and left leg back, as shown. Return to standing, step left foot behind you and lower into a lunge, arms back in sprinter position; pause. Rise up in one explosive motion, swinging arms so they switch positions, lifting left knee toward chest and rising up onto toes of right foot. Do entire sequence 8 to 12 times; switch legs and repeat.

Toning Move 3: Crossover Lunge

Works calves, hamstrings, butt
Stand with arms at shoulder height, palms down. Step forward with right foot, crossing it in front of left. Lower into a curtsylike lunge (right knee shouldn’t go past toes) while twisting torso right, as shown. Untwist, push off right foot, return to start. Do 8 to 12 reps; switch legs and repeat.

Toning Move 4: Inchworm

Works abs, chest, arms
Bend forward, place hands on floor in front of toes, and walk hands forward, as shown, until you reach plank position. Do a push-up, then inch back to start. (Keep belly button pulled in.) Do 8 to 12 reps.

Toning Move 5: Standing Lift

Works obliques, back, shoulders
Stand with left foot in front of right, holding one weight with both hands, arms extended so weight is by right hip. Rotate arms up and across, as shown (don’t twist torso); pause, then return to start. Do 8 to 12 reps; switch sides and repeat.

Toning Move 6: Side Plank

Works abs, obliques, butt, hips, thighs
Lie on right side with legs extended, hips and feet stacked; prop yourself up on your right forearm, elbow under shoulder, and place left hand on your waist. Slowly lift hips off the floor as high as you can, as shown; hold for 15 to 30 seconds, belly button pulled in toward spine. Lower to start, switch sides and repeat.

Toning Move 7: Biceps Curl

Works biceps, shoulders, back
Stand holding a weight in each hand, arms down, palms facing thighs. Curl weights toward shoulders, rotating palms up toward your chest as you lift, as shown; pause. Lower to start. Do 12 to 15 reps.

Toning Move 8: Kickback

Works triceps, back
Stand with right foot in front of left, holding a weight in left hand; lean forward with back flat; bend left elbow 90 degrees. Slowly extend arm back, lifting weight as high as you can, as shown; pause. Lower and repeat. Do 12 to 15 reps; switch sides and repeat.

Try it out and let me know if it works! =p

Meanwhile, I've been sipping Green Coffee yesterday and today - the lazy method. *hehe* Below pictures were taken with my newly acquired Nex3 (got it on a super awesome bargain). Still need to learn more about this baby of mine.

Thanks Mr. C for the early anniversary present! :)

See me?? You'll see only my right hand and the camera's lens.

And now, can you spot my left eye??!

Still here...
