Testing 1,2,3

QUOTE: "A musician must make music, an artist must paint, a poet must write, if he is ultimately at peace with himself. What a man can be, he must be." - Abraham Maslow

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Whilst at the train station on our way to EKKA, my bf was explaining to me the difference of the below... spot, evaluative, center weighted average.

Poor guy. He was rather patient and diligent in his explanation. However, my bimbotic mind has decided not to retain the information inputted then.

*Sobs*

I am interested in taking pictures but I don't seem to be able to grasp the technical aspect of it or rather I don't seem to have the patience to absorb it all. I just use the AUTO function on my Canon Ixus 100is.

Can you spot the difference?

Malaysia truly boleh

SOMETHING ABOUT ME: I always put on about 4kg from my Aussie trips and take forever to lose it! DARN IT!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Seriously, Malaysia REALLY boleh! For ALL the wrong reasons!

Just came across Magickriver's blog post on Muslims in Section 23, Shah Alam's immature behaviour. They beheaded a cow's head and left it as a warning regarding the construction of Hindhu Temple at the area.

I am sure there are other forms of protests. The way they went about expressing their feelings are just plain disgusting and basically no respect whatsoever. It's just disgusting!

Why is it that they are always asking us to respect their religion, their beliefs etc but they do not extend the same courtesy to other races and religion? Why is it that ONLY certain people get arrested under ISA for inciting racial disharmony when the very blatant culprits get away scot free??

AARGHH @#$%^&*(

When will Malaysia get into the media for newsworthy reasons?

Brisbane Day 2 at EKKA

QUOTE: The greated enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge.
- Stephen Hawkings

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today marks my last night in Aussie and am feeling rather down at the thought of having to part with my bf once again. And this time, we're both unsure when we'll meet again. Such is life and long distance relationship (LDR).
I figured that being here on holiday, I would have time to blog but it seems that I have had so much to do that I have not been able to sleep before 12am at all!
Anyhows, here is the long overdue post on EKKA that I promised.
Thursday the 13th of August was my second day in Brissy and finally, I made it to EKKA. For the past 3 years, I've not been able to make it to EKKA as I came mostly in July where else EKKA's held in August every year.
EKKA is basically like a carnival/funfair with rides, food and games AND is Brisbane's Royal Show. Each state has their own show as in carnival ie Melbourne Royal Show and Brisbane is no different.
My bf and I woke up and walked to the Morningside (a suburb about 20-30min bus ride to City) train station for a ride to EKKA.

My bf was browsing through the magazine to see what showbags that EKKA was having this round. Last year, my bf tormented me with pictures of his purchased showbags of Mars chocolates and toys.

AND we finally reached EKKA which was at the RNA Showground near The Valley, otherwise known as Chinatown. It was a beautiful day with a beautiful weather. Sunny and yet cooling. We headed to the poultry section with chickens and then horses and chicks, ducks, geese and sheep.

After that, we took the cable car/skyway and had an overview of EKKA. It was amazing. People were tiny from up there. Tents were colourful and plentiful.

Then, we headed for the roller coaster section. The thing about EKKA is that one has to pay entrance fee of AUD23 for an adult ticket. If you're a student and thus eligible for a concession ticket, it'll cost you AUD17.

The setback is, for every ride at EKKA, you'll have to pay if you want to ride it unlike Genting Highland's theme park where entrance fee is a one off payment including the rides. Some of the rides are insane... and aptly name is the 'Insanity' ride. It truly looked INSANE!

Finally, we made it to the Showbag Pavillion where all the goodies are at! There were many booth. Don't have any pictures to show as my camera ran out of battery. One of the many booths were Cadbury offering goodiebags filled with chocolates and other Cadbury products for prices ranging from AUD4-12 depending on the combination one picks.

In the end, my bf and I bought 3 showbags from Cadbury and won a present from a game. Overall, it was a fun day.

If you're ever in Brisbane towards the end of August, check it out if you have a thing for carnivals!

WHO else should die and pay hefty fines?

FACTS OF LIFE: Ignorance is bliss when it comes to Malaysia's disgusting politics. Reading about what's going on in Malaysia's dirty politics can really put one in a foul mood. Thanks to working life and Malaysia's government, many have become a racist.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Seriously, what put me in this super foul mood??? Reading this pissed me off so much that I just had to rant! What is wrong with BN? How can you expect Malaysians to be patriotic and to love Malaysia with all the shit that's happening? How can BN do the things that they do, get away with it and act as if Malaysians are a bunch of stupid idiots?

The Government as in BN (Barisan National) can dig all the crap and air the Opposition's dirty laundry all they want but they still don't win the People's respect.

For those who are clueless to the above statement, basically, BN is the federal government whereby they have more say in what goes on in Malaysia as they ARE the federal government. One would think that with so much power, they would use it for the greater good- for the better future of Malaysia. Instead, they choose to be a bunch of nincompoops.

The Opposition here meaning PR (Pakatan Rakyat) consists of PKR (Parti Keadilan Rakyat), DAP (Democratic Action Party) and PAS (Parti Islam SeMalaysia) as per my bf. I am too lazy to google it for accuracy.

When we had our General Elections in March 2008, the Opposition took control over 5 state governments (Kedah, Penang, Perak, Selangor, Kelantan. Basically, Malaysians were just sick of BN's ruling. Crime rate was going up and IS still increasing, corruption was getting worse and now BN decides to expose PR's corruption when WE all very well know that BN has a mountainful of corruption crap.

Malaysians voted for the Opposition BECAUSE we wanted a change!

We hated BN for a reason. We wanted BN out for a reason. Or rather MANY reasons. And not for frivolous reasons! When will BN start caring FOR the people and give us, the People better education, better social benefits, better public transports, safer environment to live in?? At least, with a change in ruling party, there was a chance that things might improve for the better.

But how can PR in those 5 states achieve anything with BN's allegations and investigations and so-called-exposes, one attach after another? You would think that with BN losing 5 states, they would buck up and do something about their crappy performances. That they would start doing more good for the people. But NO.. they choose to waste their time and we, Malaysians money on all their juvenile activities depicting PR's weaknesses and scandals.

If you have been following the news (by the way, the Star newspaper is owned by MCA, one of the party that makes up BN), BN has really been going after PR politicians.

This is how they've been harassed along other 'mo liu matters' pursued by BN, to name a few:

- ISA detention of Raja Petra, Teresa Kok and the Chinese Dail journalist.

- Perak DUN (Dewan Undangan Negeri) fiasco
- Elizabeth Wong in-her-sleep pictures
- MACC investigation into Selangor EX-CO members leading up to Teoh Beng Hock's fishy death.

I really hate it when the government tells us not say things that will incite racial disharmony but COME ON.. their stupid actions and ruling ARE the VERY main reason why all this crap comes out in the very first place!!!

The list of BN's "hardwork in improving their image"just goes on and on and this is not even the main gist of it. How about BN wanting to renew the current chief of police's contract who was supposed to retire 2 years ago?? As if he even did any good at all in his job.

Like I said before, EVERYONE knows that crime rate has gone up, it's as if the policemen are paying robbers and snatch thief to come out and rob us, or simply that criminals do not fear the Law as they know nothing will be done about it. What's worse is that crimes are getting more violent. Nowadays, you either get sliced by a parang, smashed on the head by Mat rempits or kicked into drains first before being robbed!

A lot of surrounding tamans in my area ie Damansara Jaya, Taman Megah, Taman Mayang are hiring security guards in an attempt to curb robbery and snatch thieves! WHAT are our poliemen DOING??

Seriously, not only our our politics a farce... our policemen are great big jokes!! They're usually dodgy/sleazy looking with mustaches and fat bellies unfit physics. Not only that, their integrity and morals are questionable. It is well known that one can bribe one's way out of almost anything! Either that, we get discounts OFF our fines/summons! My bf terms it 'the Mega sale'. What's the point of giving a fine then??

Come on, when we study in school, we have report cards to show us of progress. When we go to work, we are given a performance appraisal. For the government, we have elections. But even then... look at the Perak fiasco. How fair and just was the way BN took over???!!! It's just a matter of time til they take over the other Opposition-led states again. With their dirty tactics and typical methods and mentalities.

Who can we blame all this on?? Mahathir?? I mean, towards the end of Badawi's reign, A LOT of crap surfaced out. You can say he is weak in his leadership etc but somehow I think it's safe to say that at least he wasn't power hungry and corrupted. Mahathir has stepped down, but he still has LOADS to say and not in a very diplomatic way either, at times.

Read about OPERASI LALANG where Karpal Singh, Lim Kit Siang and other politicians were detained under ISA and how The Star, Sin Chew Jit Poh and two other weeklies were shut down for a year in 1988. Jeff Ooi also wrote a bit on Op Lalang over here.

OMG. I can go on and on about this and one topic will just lead to yet another rant. At the end of the day, what's the point?? Malaysia boleh? Yeah.. boleh for ALL the wrong reasons. Don't blame Malaysians for leaving the country, for wanting a better life, for brain drain when the very cause of it is not changing for the better.

Don't blame it when non-malays become racist. There are lots of nice Malays out there. Don't get me wrong. It's just that certain circumstances sometimes make it hard for there to be racial harmony and genuine friendships in our so-called-nowadays-multiracial country.

We are a nation of hypocrites. We say we live in racial harmony but do we really....??

Mystery letter fingers senior MACC officer over Teoh’s death

SOMETHING ABOUT ME: I simply loooove winter in Aussie and the style of dressing (except the amount of cleavage shown). Boots are sooo elegant and sexy looking!!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Majority of us have definitely have heard of Teoh Beng Hock's fishy death and the suspicious circumstances around it even if we hardly read the news. Ignorant people like me, that is. Come on, who goes kamikazing on their wedding day???!!

Anyhows, I've copied and paste the below from the Malaysian Insider for your education on one of the HOT political happenings in Malaysia. It's also on Raja Petra's blog over here. Wonder what will those governing us say this time in the bid to treat us like ignorant fools.

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 20 — The mystery letter delivered two days ago to Gobind Singh Deo, the lawyer for Teoh Beng Hock’s family, was sent by anonymous parties claiming to be “MACC officers” who urged the authorities to probe a senior anti-graft officer for corruption and involvement in the DAP political aide’s death.

The letter, written in Bahasa Malaysia and allegedly sent by unnamed Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers, appears to give lawyers for the family ammunition and a roadmap to investigate Teoh's death.

The Malaysian Insider understands that a senior official of the MACC is named as someone who was personally involved in questioning Teoh in the final hours before he died.

An account of what happened during questioning is also suggested.

But the letter does not say how Teoh actually died, which is the subject of the ongoing magistrate’s inquest.

Besides the description of the senior official, a string of allegations against him are also contained in the letter.

The letter accuses the senior official of widespread corruption involving previous investigations.

Gobind is representing Teoh’s family in the inquest.

Details of the investigations are listed.

The letter also calls for an “independent investigation” of the senior official over the corruption allegations and his involvement in Teoh’s death.

Yesterday, magistrate Azmil Muntapha Abas, who is acting as coroner in the inquest, ordered the police investigating officer, ASP Ahmad Nazri Zainal, to immediately look into the contents of the letter and check all its claims.

Azmil also told the lawyers involved not to disclose the details of the letter to anyone but did not issue a “gag order” as requested by Tan Hock Chuan, the lawyer heading the Attorney-General's team and assisting him in the inquest.

Tan asked for the “gag” to prevent putting the police follow-up at risk, as several notable people are said to be named in the controversial letter.

But Gobind, who is representing Teoh's family, said a gag would not necessarily prevent the details from leaking out.

Gobind said the letter was handed directly to him late Tuesday afternoon, just as he was leaving the court here.

The envelope it came in was not addressed to him, he said. He refused to say who it was directed to.

He admitted there was an “insignia” on the cover of the letter, but clammed up when quizzed further.

The inquest yesterday was postponed without any witnesses called to testify. It will resume on Monday at 2pm.

Brisbane Day 1

RANDOM FACTS: Nose boogers get hard and annoying when you're in the air!! Makes you want to say 'whatever' to social graces.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once again, I am here... in Brisbane!!!

Where you see blue clouds, beautiful seas and friendly people!! And I ALWAYS enjoy myself here with the bf, the lifestyle and easy goingness. Then again, the mother is here this time. So, things aren't as free and easy as my previous trips.

Took off from LCCT last Wed night on Airasia and reached Coolongatta, Gold Coast the following morning, 7am. The bf came late though to fetch us. However, the super bright and blue skies greeted my mum and I.

Typically her, whilst I attempted to contact my bf, my mum aka the big baby disappeared to look for maps. As a child, she would latch on to my hand. Now, she the big child disappears off on her own without any warning leaving me to hunt for her!!

Anyways, when my bf reached in his Korean friend's car, we headed off to Surfers Paradise which is about 20minutes away from the Coolongatta Airport. As we were looking for a parking spot, we came by the below...
BUFFET!! and only for AUD10!! Being typical Malaysians, we headed there for the awesomest breakfast that is definitely value for money. Plus, the fact that the THREE of us were beary hungry!

This shop is facing the beach and hard to miss. The breakfast buffet consists of poached eggs, bacon, sausages, toasts, grilled tomatoes, baked beans, potato gems, cereal, honey, peanut butter jam and free flow coffee/tea.

The below is a pic of the scrummilicious food that I had... YUMMY and SLURP!!

After our scrumptious breakfast, we had a walk around Surfer's. It was basically us taking in the beach that was filled with people tanning themselves, the scenery and the surroundings. Every time I brought out my newly bought sleek and black Ixus100IS, my mum will whip out her latest Sony Ericson handphone to take pics, too!

I just love taking pictures of the trees cos they look different from the Malaysian ones and figures, statutes and monuments that you'll see as you get around.

It would seem that ever since I landed in Australia, I've not had time to blog. Darn it. So much to tell but no time to tell it AT ALL!! This is the best I can do for now.

So stay tune folks. Don't give up on me. Keep coming back for my postings!!!

Next up... EKKA!!

Finally

SOMETHING ABOUT ME: I seem to have a shorter fuse nowadays with lesser tolerance and I tend to shut down easily which I am not proud of.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I made a very big decision today and I am wondering why don't I feel the super high feeling that I should be having, just yet. This very decision has been on my very mind ever since the very beginning but something has always cropped up to either delay my decision or to change it.

And now, finally, I have decided to take the plunge. And I thought it was best to inform certain people of my decision. If not, there would be complaints as to why didn't I mention about it sooner. However, due to some oversight as I was rushing to clear my manager's queries on work, I left out informing some people.

Anyways, I can't help but wonder if I had made a mistake.

I feel as if I should have just kept quiet about the whole plunge I had made. It might have made life a whole lot better. I can't help but wonder if it was also a factor that triggered another friend's certain decision.

Of course, many people would scorn and say that it was not a nice move seeing the timing and all. But I have reached passed my breaking point and if I didn't take that step now, when would I ever?

Now, if only she will support me as he does.

Channing Tatum, anyone??

SOMETHING ABOUT ME: Queky tends to have an affinity to horror and at times, crappy movies. I don't. The things little sisters do for their big brothers who often take them forgranted! =p

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OMG!! GI JOE was AWESOME!!

ok ok... maybe awesome was pushing it a little too much.It was STUPENDOUS!! FANTABULOUS!!!until....

**********

*******

*****

***

it got a little bit draggy towards the end.

The movie started off well with amazing technology being showcased with awesome shooting scenes and high tech planes and gadgets. I know I keep saying awesome but the movie was pretty awesome in the sense that it wasn't bad. *haha* I am making a muck out of this. Anyways, the storyline was alright. I guess, most would say better than "The Proposal" which was way much too predictable. But I still loved it because I love happy ever after stories and well, spunky Sandra Bullock. Just in case you're confused, I am digressing and talking about "The Proposal". Back to GI Joe. Why GI Joe is a must watch...

Channing Tatum

Firstly, they have great casts... If they're not famous for their talent... then you can't find fault in their looks. The main and more well known casts are Channing Tatum, Dennis Quaid, Sienna Miller, Joseph Gordon- Levitt and Marlon Wayans, to name a few.

A bit about the casts...
This shows reminded me of how cute Channing Tatum is. If you know me, I am not one for gushing at cute guys... except Hugh Jackman and Heath Ledger and Cheng E-Kin and lest we forget, the bf... And gushing is what I seem to be doing now. Channing, known as DUKE in 'GI Joe' also recently acted in 'Public Enemies'. I found him endearing in 'Step Up' 1 and 2 and also in 'She's the Man'. Typical chick flick.
Sienna Miller
I always thought Sienna Miller, acting as ANA, looked rather sweet in 'Casanova'. However, she's rather infamous for her affair with Jude Law and recently Balthazar Getty. In GI Joe, I would say she is actually QUITE hot. Maybe it's her character's attitude that brings out the "chun-ness" showcasing her as a sexy bombshell not to be messed with.
Dennis Quaid
Dennis Quaid, as General Hawk is the ex-husband of Meg Ryan, starred in other movies such as 'Vantage Point' and 'Yours, Mine and ours'. And Joseph Gordon- Levitt, acting as REX (ANA's brother), is famous for his '3rd Rock from the Sun' role.

Joseph Gordon- Levitt

Marlon Wayans

Marlon Wayans, known as Ripcord in the movie has acted in 'Little Man' which was a rather crude and crappy movie and also in 'White Chick'. He also starred in 'Scary Movie' 1-4 and also in 5 (coming out in 2010). I wouldn't really know as I am definitely not a Scary Movie fan.

back to why YOU should watch GI Joe...

Secondly
, there are some pretty intense fighting scene. What is an action movie without some good 'ol fighting scenes with super canggih machine guns, planes, gadgets and of course the prancing and dancing around in the form of swordsplay and fighting moves.

Lastly, what is a movie without a little romance and of course, a twist, if there is one. *hehe* I shall leave the rest to your imagination or perhaps, lackof. A minor spoiler alert though, the movie ends with a definite promise of a sequel.

Definitely one of the better movies Queky has taken me to.

I would rate it a 4/5 more for it's action scenes and high tech stuff... but apparently this guy... rated the movie 1/5.

What would you rate it??

The reason for blogging

Something about me: I've always wanted to go into fashion design just like Jenny Humphrey of Gossip Girls. But if you see my dressing, you'll wonder why.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Someone asked me why do I blog? Well, let me tell you my history of blogging and the reason I blog.

It all began in 2003 when I started my first year of Uni at Metropolitan, Subang after completing SAM at Taylors. Mind you, my TER (Tertiary Education Rating,I think) was 85% above. So, please don't assume Metropolitan College people are Taylor's rejects which used to be the MISconception. However, it is the truth for perhaps a certain portion of people.

Ok. So back to why I started blogging. I started blogging at snoopynuts.blogspot.com. from October 2003 onwards. It was more of a personal diary only it wasn't in hardcopy but rather online. I blogged about Uni, friends, issues, how I felt about things and yada yada yada. Then, I disclose the URL to some people and I think eventually it got out to other people that I didn't even know were reading.

Frankly speaking, it was a really depressing blog. Full of melancholicness. Rather a lot of reflection done but in a pessimistic way. I guess, it's just my true temperament acting out. And I blogged there til end Dec 2007.

Things just got worse at work for me from mid 2007 onwards. Bosses were alright with me. I was ok with my colleagues, then. It was just about the work. I never liked it from day 1 but family obligations made me stay. And now, it's been 3 years and 7 months! And I am still here and I still abhor it. The politics. The people. Reality, in other words. Making my cynical, jaded and well, disillusioned.

Anyhow, I found out someone from office was reading my depressing, dark and gloomy blog. And I didn't really like it. It's one thing to blog and people you know, reads your blog. It's another thing to blog and people who may not really know you or DON'T know you, read your blog. and people just tend to judge you based on your blogs; on How you blog and what you say.

So, I decided to privatised snoopnynuts and eventually, I stopped blogging. Somehow, after several months of no blogging, I started again ás I love to write, I guess. So, I tried out goingkookies.wordpress.com. WHY? Because they offered the option to privatised a particular post if the blogger so decides to. And then, I came across Nuffnang and how it's possible to earn a side income from it. And it interest me.

Eventually, I decided to join Nuffnang but as I wasn't sure how to incorporate Nuffnang with Wordpress, I switched back to blogspot. And hence, goingkookies.blogspot.com was born.

What am I trying to say in this super chiong hei (cantonese for long winded) post???

You read so much about people trying to increase traffic in their blog just so that they can get more potential $. Well, I, too got suck into all of that jazz. Tell me, WHO doesn't want money, right??

The good part was, I sort of "cleaned up" my act and adopted a more positive outlook. I mean, WHO would want to read a super depressing blog, right? All doom and gloom.

And that's the main reason why I am blogging this today. First and foremost, I blog cos I love to. It's an outlet to express my thoughts and my feelings. And secondly, if I get side income out of it, even better!!

So GUYS, when you pop by for a visit here, do click on the NUFFNANG ads either ON THE TOP of this blog or ON THE LEFT hand corner or usually AFTER the first post on this page. Clicking it would be a great support to me but not only that, the ADs are ACTUALLY quite interesting I would say and maybe what you're looking for. What with events, competitions and promotions on stuff ie New Zealand Ice Cream, Nescafe drinks MTV concert etc.

My blogging style has also changed somewhat in the sense where it's not as personal and as open as before. I really do try to be as open and personal but sometimes, people may misconstrue what I blog about and perhaps may even think I am referring to them when it may not be the case.

It's easy to say,"Screw you people and what you think..." but at the end of the day, unfortunately, this is not me. I can't say that. So, I will try to blog on more personal, heartfelt issues when I can and PLEASE, if you know me personally, don't use this to relate to anything that may be going on in my life with you. It just wouldn't be fair.

So, people, blog because it interests you and NOT just for the money. And if people like what they read, they'll come back for more. Of course, bloggers who are famous get more traffic. Sensational and controversial topics that are sex related or political or radical will of course attract more people to come.

Whatever it is, just don't lose the real aim of why you blog and make sure it has substance.

Money maybe MOST things but it definitely ISN'T everything!

Christian Bale is definitely droolworthy!

OMG!! Was looking for this song "seize the day" and ' sante fe" from a musical, Newsies. As I youtubed it, came across someone's comment that one of the main person was Christian Bale. He looked rather different those many years ago. I prefer the manly mature him.

Christian Bale in Newsies... younger him...

Christian Bale... the manlier man..

No.1- Christian Bale is REALLY good looking. Thought so when he starred in Batman.
No.2- I didn't know til Tuesday night that he acted in Newsies!!!

No.3- and... He CAN sing!!

What is Newsies you asked? It's a Disney musical that came out in 1992. It's a really touching musical that is based on a true story of the Newsboys Strike in 1989 in New York City.
