En Izakaya and Cafe Notturno

The Friday before, Mr. C and I met up with Miss Feisty at a Japanese eatery named En Izakaya situated in Balaclava for dinner.

You can read The Age's review on this place HERE.

The menu... Prices on average is about AUD10-16

Our cod fish.. the fish was fresh and top it off with soya sauce! [3.5/5]

Some prawn with egg plant on top... really delicious [4/5]

Some funny rice ball with meat in it... Not to my fancy though Mr. C and Miss Feisty liked it [2/5]
I thought the dishes would be like the ones we have home - Bento sets or don ie. fish with rice but Miss Feisty told me it's fine dining and dishes come in small quantity like tapas. It was an interesting experience dining here. Food tastes good but quantity is small and it's not memorable enough to make me crave going back there. Hence, I won't be coming back here any time soon.

We figured since it's a Friday night, we could just adjourned to the city which was about 10 minutes drive away by car for desert! We drove around looking for parking hoping to walk around the city for a bit. Finding a parking at that time proved to be an insane try.
Hence, we decided to just head to Lygon St. - mostly known for it's Italian restaurants! - for our desert.
Cafe Notturno

Huge portion of mixed strawberry cheesecake which was heavenly! [4/5]

Some chocolate baileys cake which had no Bailey's taste at all! [2/5]

The mixed berries cheesecake was recommended by the waitress that served us as I was in a dilemma over which cake to choose. That's why I always say it is good to ask the staff for their recommendation 'cos they've probably hear reviews from customers or tried the food there themselves!

The chocolate baileys that Mr. C chose was unfortunately less yum. The middle part was compact and it doesn't melt in your mouth. It was rather dry unlike the fluffy mixed berries cheesecake that literally melt in our mouth!

The cake size served was huge. If we had known, we would have both shared a slice of cake! So, note to remember! And I am the kind of girl who usually eats a whole slice of cake by myself without a tinge of guilt irregardless of how full I feel! If I like something, I can eat it not matter what!

My sinfully decadent Iced Mocha

Overall Cafe Notturno was alright. You don't need to make reservations as there are ample seats! I wouldn't mind coming back here another time especially if I was craving for a certain cheesecake!
