Sweet, Thoughtful Aunty Margaret

Aunty Margaret, my mother's eldest brother's wife, is an incredibly sweet aunt. She's the kind of aunt who'll spoil you and shower you with gifts.

I remember May 1997 when I was in Melbourne with my mother, an adorable penguin greeted me upon arrival at my Melbourne uncle and aunt's house. She's the kind of aunt who leaves new towels and soap for our stay on the bed and also presents!

One day, after a day out in the city with my mother, a lilac velvety sort of jacket was waiting for me- yet another lovely gift from Aunt Margaret. She even stored up her larder with Tim Tams just for me!

In August 2009 when my mum, Mr. C and I had a short stay in Melbourne, Aunt Margaret bought for each of us a scarf and her presents are usually not cheap. But for me, it's her thought that counts.

The thing is, Aunt Margaret would sneakily buy gifts for people without my uncle knowing. And she loves to give things from the house. Not their own things but things like fruits or chocolates, stuff like that. Once, she gave us fish oil and my uncle saw it and said he wanted it and why was giving it away whilst she gave us a sheepish look.

Ever since Mr. C and I moved to Melbourne and right next door to them (and it's thanks to my uncle) my aunt has bought us fruit baskets and bouquet of flowers. And two weeks back when my cousin came over for our Saturday dinner ritual, he came bearing gifts - fruits, chocolates, cakes and flowers! - from his mother, Aunt Margaret!

And the next day, Mr. C, being a blur guy, thanked my aunt in front of my uncle -who obviously didn't know that she bought stuff for us again - for the flowers and my uncle asked if she's going to be buying things for us every time Jo, my cousin would come by.

The fruits basket that greeted my arrival to Melbourne!

and flowers to boot! Before it bloomed.

After it bloomed... orange lilies with orchids.

Second batch of flowers the Saturday my cousin came over for dinner...

Chocolates that came with the fruits

Lovely tasting cake that served as Mr. C's breakfast!

and fruits!!

Even on Sunday when we pop over for dinner, we left with fruits from her. Mr. C says I am like Aunt Margaret, the part where I love to buy gifts for others even when it's not any special occasion and we stress ourselves out over it at times.

I have always wanted an aunt or uncle or basically, a relative that is the nice, loving and shows it. It is a really nice feeling to feel love and cared for and I hope we make her feel the same too.

Guess I'd better get around to baking my pineapple tarts for her!!
