Last Tuesday, Mr. C, a few of his friends and I went to watch Sex and the City (SATC) 2. Poor Mr. C. This is definitely not a movie that he would usually consent to watching but he made this an exception... kononnya (supposedly) for me but it was his colleague who reaaally wanted to watch it.
Not to give out any spoilers but this movie cannot be compared to the first one- it was a let down IMHO and apparently to many people.
I may not be a super die hard fan of SATC but the first movie was indisputably better. In the first movie, although the plot is typical and predictable but it made up in other areas such as the more fashionable wardrobe selection that was classier and more chic.
Besides the better dressed actresses, there were "chi kek" (excitingly gripping) moments in SATC1 such as Mr. Big and his cold feet getting a smacking of his lifetime from the bouquet of wedding flowers held in Carrie's hands and there were the poignant scenes that makes one go "awww" when Mr. Big re-proposes to Carrie in her dream-come-true-walk-in-wardrobe.

In SATC2, the actresses dressing especially Carrie left much to be desired. Her puffy purple skirt was just awful and the scenes between Carrie and Aidan, her ex-boyfriend felt awkward and forced. Not only that, they just left me hanging in the air after that electrifying pash (Aussie slang for tongue-kissing).
Made me wonder what happened to Aidan? And if he was happy with his other half, why did he kissed Carrie? Questions after questions but with no answers to them. Urgh!

I must say that Samantha was her amusing self but came off a bit more tacky and crass. Maybe the general consensus is that one should age gracefully not just in looks but also in demeanor. Then again, I assume that's how her character is supposed to be.
The trailer made SATC2 looked better than it really is.
Surprisingly enough, Mr. C said the movie was not too bad and he found it alright. He was definitely amused by Samantha's wantonness. All in all, I loved them more in SATC 1.
Here is a brief summary of the movie in a few lines...

Two years have passed since Carrie Bradshaw finally bagged John "Mr. Big" Preston, the man she was always meant to be with. Just as her friend Charlotte must deal with her young daughter's "terrible two's", Carrie must deal with her relationship taking a turn for the worse - Big likes to watch old black-and-white movies on TV and eat take-out food, which prevents Carrie from feeling like the free-wheeling party girl she used to be. Meanwhile, Miranda copes with a new boss that can't handle an intelligent, powerful woman, and Samantha works a public relations angle that gets the fashionable foursome an all-expense-paid trip to Abu Dhabi.
